Mapping Alteration Mineralogy in Eastern Tsogttsetsii, Mongolia, Based on the WorldView-3 and Field Shortwave-Infrared Spectroscopy Analyses

This study produces alteration mineral maps based on WorldView-3 (WV-3) data and field shortwave-infrared (SWIR) spectroscopy. It is supported by conventional analytical methods such as X-ray diffraction, fluorescence, electron probe micro analyzer an initial step for exploration in eastern Tsogttsetsii, Mongolia, where access limited. Distributions of advanced argillic minerals (alunite, dickite, kaolinite), illite/smectite (illite, smectite, mixed-layered illite-smectite), ammonium (buddingtonite NH4-illite) were mapped using the decorrelation stretch, band math, mixture-tuned-matched filter (MTMF) techniques. The accuracy assessment WV-3 MTMF map SWIR showed good spectrally predominant alunite, kaolinite, buddingtonite, NH4-illite. combination mapping a drone photogrammetric-derived digital elevation model contributed to understanding structural development hydrothermal system through visualization topographic spatial distribution surface minerals. Field spectroscopy provided further detailed information regarding chemical variations crystallinity aluminum abundance illite that was unavailable data. Combining with can narrow selection between deposit models facilitate exploration.
